Horse and Yoga Retreats was created by Cathy Woods and Heather Wallace to provide a relaxing adventure for women. Empower yourself. Take the less beaten path. Experience a unique breed. All of this in a safe, environment with other like-minded women.
Our guided tours and activities will include horse riding, waterfalls, geysers, black sand beaches, and hopefully the Northern Lights!
Daily Gentle Yoga and Guided Meditation
We will start with a group meditation to set the tone each day and collect us as a supportive retreat group.
Gentle yoga classes focusing on pleasant stretches for riders throughout the week as our travel schedule permits.
We will also interweave group workshops and discussions throughout the retreat; which may include The Yoga of Breath, What Makes a Good Rider, The Parallels of Yoga and Horsemanship, Self-care for Body, Mind & Spirit, and Adding More Joy to Our Lives.
Our time with horses will include mindful-riding, horsemanship, and mindful equine grooming while learning about the unique and amazing Icelandic horses.
Though our retreat is chock full of historic sites, natural beauty, horses, yoga, great food and accommodations, there will be free time for personal rest and relaxation.

Have you ever wanted to ride an Icelandic horse? We know these horses for their calm demeanor and social personalities. They are a small, comfortable, gaited breed who are sure-footed and extremely comfortable. If you have never ridden the tolt, a smooth pace similar to power walking, that is unique to this breed, we want to introduce you!
You will be paired with the perfect horse for your comfort and training level from the breeders who know them best! Ride two hours each day with Heather Wallace, The Timid Rider and Cathy Woods Yoga for an invigorating exploration of the iconic countryside while enjoying your equine partner.
Heather will coach you to help build confidence on the ground and in the saddle while Cathy will guide you through mindfulness, breathing, and stretching on the horse.

Below is a sample of what you will experience each day.
Arrive in Reykjavík, Iceland and check into the hotel. We will secure a group rate downtown. During the evening, join us for a Meet & Greet and welcome dinner to get to know each other and savor some local fare!
*Dinner will be dutch, as the tour begins officially the next morning.
After breakfast and morning yoga, we will visit Þingvellir, Laugarvatn and Geyser. After lunch, we will go horseback riding to Gulfoss (Golden Waterfall).
We will then travel to our boutique hotel on the southern coast to have a gourmet dinner.
Horse tour to a private waterfall from Skálakot, this tour takes about 2 hours. After the ride, we head to the waterfalls for those who would like to take a hike. There are two options: walk behind a waterfall and for the more adventurous you will hike in a stream to reach another valley and waterfall.
Afterwards we will go to our hotel to relax, dry off and yoga before dinner.
We begin by walking a glacier after breakfast. We then carry on the South Coast to visit the famous black sand beaches to have lunch. Afterward, we will have 2 hours of riding on the black sand beach for a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Horse riding in the morning followed by the hidden gems adventure in the afternoon, including a beautiful gorge, Nauthúsagil and a semi-natural bathing place Seljavallalaug.
Return to our hotel for yoga and dinner late in the afternoon.
Drive back to Reykjavík, visiting a volcanic crater and a lava tube cave on the way. A short introduction of Reykjavík arriving early enough in the city to enjoy what the city has to offer.
